Report- Ayaz Iqbal
Gwadar, 25 April 2025: In a promising move for local entrepreneurship, three brothers from a middle-class family in Gwadar have launched a grocery delivery startup, Varag o Vardan, to simplify everyday life for the city’s residents. Officially soft-launched on April 6, 2025, the startup has already gained momentum through its Android mobile app, now available on the Google Play Store, with an iOS version in development.
Rooted in local markets, Varag o Vardan partners directly with small grocery vendors to deliver fresh chicken, fish, mutton, and essential cooking ingredients such as tomatoes, potatoes, and other daily essentials, including beverages, straight to customers’ doorsteps. With over 800 downloads in just a few weeks and an average of 10–20 daily orders, the startup is gaining early traction in a market that had long awaited a tech-driven convenience service.
The startup quickly caught the attention of Mr. Sajid bin Raheem, Chairman of SRB Media Group and CEO of The Gwadar Post, who praised Varag o Vardan for its innovative model and promoted the initiative across his media platforms. This public recognition played a key role in attracting local support, including from Assistant Commissioner Gwadar, Mir Jawad Zehri, who invited the Varag o Vardan team to his office.
In a symbolic show of support, AC Mir Jawad Zehri became the brand’s first official Brand Ambassador, applauding the efforts of the young team. He commended the startup’s dedication, vision, and ability to deliver on-ground impact. In his remarks, he also assured the team of full public relations and investor facilitation support, stating that the administration would stand behind youth-led ventures that contribute to the local economy and digital transformation. The founders expressed their gratitude to AC Gwadar for the encouragement and for recognizing the potential of youth-driven innovation in the region.
Despite operating with limited resources, the dedication of the founding team has enabled them to manage daily operations efficiently. Co-founder Naseem Baloch, a chemical engineer from Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, currently handles deliveries himself to reduce costs. His drive to create meaningful employment alternatives in a challenging job market has fueled this initiative.
Darwaesh Murad, a graduate in Visual and Film Design from NCA Lahore, is the creative mind behind the brand. He manages all visual content, marketing designs, and the app’s aesthetic identity, helping it stand out in a developing market.
Faisal Murad, a software engineer from a reputed university in Punjab, is responsible for the app’s technical development and maintenance. He ensures a seamless user experience and works to continually improve the app’s functionality.
As Gwadar continues to embrace digital innovation, Varag o Vardan represents a landmark in the city’s entrepreneurial journey, not just as a service but as a statement of what local youth can achieve when supported and recognized.
