Gwadar: In a historic move for Balochistan, preparations have been finalized to launch the Self-Sufficiency Employment Scheme for 120 disabled individuals (male and female) in Gwadar. Spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Gwadar, Hamood Ur Rehman Ranjha, the initiative aims to provide financial assistance and employment opportunities to empower disabled individuals. The official inauguration is set to take place in the first week of Ramadan.
A key meeting was recently held between Deputy Director of Social Welfare Gwadar, Mir Jan Baloch, and Shakeel Ghareeb Samalzee to discuss the scheme’s execution. Also in attendance were senior officials, including Akhtar Akbar, Kauda Ghani, Kaleem Ullah, Hassan Baloch, Suwed Baloch, Balach Baloch, and Safeer Baloch.
A Landmark Initiative for Balochistan
This initiative marks the first-of-its-kind employment program for disabled individuals in Balochistan, setting a precedent for social and economic inclusion. Deputy Commissioner Hamood Ur Rehman Ranjha commended the program, congratulating all applicants and emphasizing that “We may be disabled, but we are not dependent.”
Empowering Disabled Individuals with Economic Independence
The Self-Sufficiency Employment Scheme is designed to foster leadership, unlock natural talents, and ensure equal rights for disabled individuals. Financial assistance will be tailored to help recipients start small businesses, acquire vocational skills, or invest in sustainable income sources.
Future Expansion Across Balochistan
Given its significance, authorities anticipate expanding the initiative to other districts in Balochistan, ensuring a wider impact. Mir Jan Baloch reaffirmed the Social Welfare Department’s full support in implementing and sustaining this program.
This initiative not only provides financial aid but also restores dignity and self-reliance to those often marginalized. The success of the program in Gwadar could pave the way for similar efforts nationwide, redefining employment accessibility for disabled individuals in Pakistan.
