Gwadar Chamber President Meets Indonesian Trade Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Trade Relations
Jakarta: President of the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Jeehand Hoth, met with Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade cooperation, explore new investment opportunities, and promote collaboration in port-related development between Pakistan and Indonesia.
During the meeting, President Jeehand Hoth emphasized Gwadar’s growing importance in regional trade and highlighted the port’s strategic potential for fostering a strong Pakistan–Indonesia business partnership. He noted that Gwadar Port is rapidly emerging as a major hub for regional commerce, offering a range of investment opportunities for Indonesian businesses looking to expand in South Asia.
Minister Budi Santoso praised Gwadar’s development progress and acknowledged Pakistan’s increasing economic potential. He said Indonesia is keen to enhance trade relations and explore partnership avenues within the framework of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The minister added that both sides aim to build direct linkages between their private sectors to encourage mutual trade and investment growth.
President Jeehand Hoth extended an invitation to the Indonesian business community to visit Gwadar as part of the GCCI’s official business delegation program. He said such visits will help investors gain firsthand insight into the city’s economic environment, infrastructure projects, and future business prospects.
Both sides agreed that Pakistan–Indonesia cooperation should extend beyond government initiatives and focus on private sector collaboration to achieve sustainable and long-term economic growth.
Reaffirming Gwadar’s role as the future economic gateway of the region, Jeehand Hoth stated that the port holds immense potential to benefit all neighboring countries. He reiterated GCCI’s commitment to taking practical steps toward establishing a sustainable trade partnership with Indonesia.
