
Gwadar -The Second Annual Sports Week 2025 at Gwadar University has commenced with great enthusiasm. The opening ceremony took place at the College Ground, where Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed officially inaugurated the event by kicking a football. The event was attended by Dean of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Sports Director Sagheer Naseem, Director ORIC Muhammad Irshad, Deputy Registrar Abdul Majid, Director of Student Affairs Farooq Haider, department heads, faculty members, and students.
On the special directives of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Beach Games have been introduced as a signature feature of Sports Week, utilizing Gwadar’s scenic coastline. This initiative includes exciting competitions such as Beach Volleyball, Futsal, and Tug of War, making Gwadar University the first in Pakistan to host university-level Beach Games.
Diverse Sporting Events Across Multiple Venues
In addition to Beach Games, the Annual Sports Week features a variety of indoor and outdoor sports, including Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Chess, Badminton, Ludo, Table Tennis, Carrom, Tug of War, and Scrabble. Matches are being held at College Ground, Block Auditorium, Sports Complex, and Padizir Beach, providing students with an exciting platform to showcase their athletic skills.
A Milestone for University Sports in Pakistan
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed emphasized the significance of sports in student development. He lauded the introduction of the Beach Games as a pioneering achievement for Gwadar University, setting a benchmark for institutions across the country.
By incorporating Beach Games, Gwadar University has created a new tradition in university sports. Our coastal advantage allows us to offer a unique sporting experience unavailable at most universities in Pakistan. This is not just a competition—it marks the beginning of a legacy that will grow in the years ahead, he stated.

The Sports Week runs from February 3 to 7, 2025, with students actively engaging in various events. The administration, faculty, and student volunteers have meticulously planned and organized the event to ensure its success.
