
Gwadar Anti-Rape Court Sentences Convict to 20 Years in Prison
Gwadar: The District and Sessions Judge of the Anti-Rape Court in Gwadar has sentenced Muslim(Main convict) to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of 1 million rupees after finding him guilty in a heinous assault case from last year. The court ruled that the convict was sentenced under Section 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The incident occurred in September 2024, when a young girl was assaulted while returning home from school. A case was registered at Women Police Station Gwadar under FIR No. 07/2024, invoking Sections 364-A, 376, and 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Legal Proceedings and Representation
During the trial, the defense team was led by Advocates Mukhtar Ahmed and Rashid Ali, while the victim’s family was represented by Advocate Farhad Saleem. The state prosecution was handled by government lawyer Gulzar Ahmed.
Court’s Statement on Child Protection
In its verdict, the court emphasized that crimes against children are among the most serious offenses in any society. It stated:
“Preventing such heinous acts is not only the responsibility of the courts but also of the entire community. These crimes not only devastate the victim but also shake the very foundations of society. Strict action against offenders is essential to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for children.”
The ruling has been widely praised by citizens, who regard it as a landmark decision in the fight against child abuse. Many expressed hope that such strict legal action will serve as a deterrent against similar crimes in the future.
