Gwadar Chamber of Commerce Announces Plan to Introduce Small Industries in Gwadar

Gwadar: The Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has announced plans to introduce small-scale industries in the district, in collaboration with the Sialkot and Gujranwala Chambers of Commerce. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Chamber’s office, attended by GCCI President Jeehand Hoth, General Secretary Khalid Saif, Senior Vice President Naeem Rashid, and Media Advisor Sajid Bin Raheem.

President Jeehand Hoth said that in the initial phase, 50 young people from Gwadar will be sent to Sialkot and Gujranwala for training in various trades. “Our goal is to equip Gwadar’s youth with the skills to establish small businesses and eventually become owners of their own factories,” he said. “This initiative aims to create new employment opportunities in the district, steering our youth away from informal trade practices that have caused financial losses and earned them the label of ‘smugglers. Instead, we want them to move toward dignified and sustainable livelihoods.

He added that the program would help young entrepreneurs become self-reliant and succeed in business on the basis of their own efforts, rather than depending on outside investors.

Speaking at the press conference, GCCI Media Advisor Sajid Bin Raheem emphasized that the focus will be on industries with strong local demand. These include soap and detergent production, jewelry designing, LED bulb and fan assembly, plastic bag and packaging units, bakery and food processing, as well as the processing of dates and dried fish.

These industries will enable young people to transition from the informal economy into legitimate businesses, said Sajid Bin Raheem. This shift will ensure that money circulates within the local economy rather than flowing out of the district, laying a stronger foundation for Gwadar’s economic growth.
