Gwadar Administration Cracks Down on Unhygienic Food, Illegal Sales, and Encroachments

Gwadar Post | August 19

Gwadar Assistant Commissioner and Price Control Magistrate Saad Kaleem Zafar carried out surprise inspections across city markets and hotels, taking strict action against unhygienic conditions and the sale of substandard food items.

Speaking to The Gwadar Post, Zafar said several hotels were found with poor sanitation and unsatisfactory food quality. Fines were imposed, and hotel owners were warned that repeat violations would result in harsher penalties.

Providing citizens with clean and safe food is the government’s top priority, and negligence by hotel owners will not be tolerated,” he emphasized.

Crackdown on Gutka and Maawa

During the operation, authorities also launched a citywide crackdown on the sale of gutka and maawa. A large quantity of these harmful substances was seized and immediately confiscated. Zafar stated that those endangering public health with such products “will not be spared under any circumstances.”

Monitoring Grocery Stores

The inspection extended to grocery shops, where store owners were instructed not to display items such as flour, lentils, and tea leaves in open areas. Officials stressed that exposure to dust and pollution can contaminate food and pose health risks. Violators will face heavy fines and possible arrests.

Action Against Encroachments

The Assistant Commissioner also removed illegal encroachments from sidewalks and cleared roads for pedestrians. He noted that keeping streets and footpaths open is essential for public convenience.

Zafar further announced that the administration will continue regular operations to keep Gwadar clean and healthy, warning that no violations will be tolerated.
