Balochistan High Court Issues Contempt Notice to Officials Over Levies Personnel Action
Quetta: The Balochistan High Court (Turbat Bench) has issued contempt of court notices to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home & Tribal Affairs) and the Director General (DG) of Levies Abdul Ghafar Magsi, along with two other officials, for allegedly taking action against Levies personnel despite a prior court order restricting such measures.
According to the court’s order, a previous ruling on February 10, 2025, had explicitly restrained authorities from initiating any coercive action against the petitioners, who include several Levies officers from Gwadar. However, despite this directive, officials reportedly proceeded with actions that violated the court’s decision.
Representing the petitioners, Advocate Khalil Ahmed Panzai argued that the officials’ actions amounted to contempt of court. The High Court acknowledged the gravity of the claims and admitted the petition for further proceedings. Notices have been issued to the concerned officials, instructing them to respond to the allegations.
The case has now been adjourned to a later date, as further legal deliberations are expected.
This development highlights the ongoing legal scrutiny over administrative decisions affecting law enforcement personnel in Balochistan.
