Employees’ Rights Will Not Be Compromised – Prof. Abdul Qudoos Kakar
Quetta: The Balochistan Grand Alliance (BGA) has strongly reaffirmed its commitment to protecting employees’ rights. Speaking at a large-scale employees’ convention held at Metropolitan Lawn, Quetta, BGA’s central organizer, Professor Abdul Qudoos Kakar, urged employees to prepare for a tough struggle. He warned the government against anti-employee policies, stating that no one could exploit workers or deprive them of their financial security.
Professor Kakar condemned the government’s alleged attempts to cut pensions and salaries, vowing to thwart any such initiatives. He asserted that the province’s 350,000 employees and institutions cannot be left at the mercy of hollow reform claims. He also dismissed the government’s vision of running institutions on a contractual basis, stating that ad-hoc, contract, and daily-wage appointments would not be accepted.
Government Accused of Corruption Under the Pretext of Good Governance
BGA’s central leader and organizing committee member, Abdul Malik Kakar, emphasized that governance remains the biggest challenge in Balochistan, with the province facing severe administrative issues. He accused the provincial government of using the concept of good governance as a cover for widespread corruption.
He demanded transparency in public-private partnership agreements, particularly those related to metropolitan projects and parking plazas, challenging the government to disclose these contracts if they have nothing to hide.
Abdul Malik Kakar declared that Balochistan’s employees are now united and will no longer allow their rights to be violated.
Balochistan Grand Alliance Leaders Issue Stern Warning
Other key speakers at the convention included BGA’s Deputy Organizer Abdul Salam Zehri, Central Press Secretary Ali Bakhsh Jamali, Finance Secretary Professor Fareed Achakzai, and senior leaders Muhammad Younas Kakar, Lala Manzoor, Nadeem Khokhar, and Naseebullah Kakar. They highlighted that several employee organizations have come together under the BGA platform, demonstrating unity and determination.
The speakers warned that federal and provincial measures against employees would be met with a strong response. They urged the Balochistan government to reconsider its stance, cautioning that failure to do so could lead to widespread administrative paralysis and social unrest across the province.
They reaffirmed that employees would not tolerate any cuts to pensions, salaries, or benefits and vowed to resist any form of injustice. The leaders also clarified that privatization of any department or institution would not be allowed, condemning pension reforms that threaten employees’ financial security.
Action Plan: Next Phases of the Movement
In the first phase of their movement, the BGA has already established action committees in all districts, with conventions and press conferences drawing thousands of participants.
In the second phase, the BGA will finalize a charter of demands, which will be presented to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and other senior officials. A grand central convention will be held in Quetta, featuring employee representatives from across the country.
The third phase of the movement will be announced during this grand convention, setting the course for future actions.
