Increase in Thefts and Robberies, Citizens Feel Unsafe
Gwadar: The rising crime rate in the city has caused fear and anxiety among residents. In the early hours of Friday, unidentified motorcyclists robbed a poor bicycle vendor, who was selling bakery items, at gunpoint near Shaheen Chowk. According to eyewitnesses, the culprits easily fled the scene after snatching cash and a mobile phone from the victim.
Following the incident, there is a strong sense of anger and frustration among the citizens. Local shopkeepers and residents have expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of theft and robbery, urging SSP Gwadar, Zia Mandokhail, to take immediate action. They emphasized the need for enhanced police patrolling to ensure the safety of people and their property.
On the other hand, SHO Gwadar stated that no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the incident. He assured that an investigation would begin once a case is registered. However, citizens have expressed distrust in the police, pointing out that similar incidents have occurred in the past, yet no culprits have been arrested. This, they believe, is encouraging criminals to continue their activities without fear of consequences.
Residents have demanded that SSP Gwadar take effective measures to curb the growing crime rate, restore public confidence, and make Gwadar a safer city.
