Sindh High Court Disposes Petition Against Travel Restrictions by Sami Deen Baloch

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has dismissed the petition filed by Sami Deen Baloch, Secretary of the Voice of Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), regarding travel restrictions imposed on him. The court instructed him to first seek redress from the Balochistan government before approaching the judiciary.

Court Proceedings and Statements

During the hearing, lawyer Jibran Nasir stated that Sami Deen Baloch’s name had been placed on the Passport Control List (PCL). The court acknowledged that the name was added due to a case linked to alleged anti-state activities. However, Nasir argued that his client’s name was neither on the Exit Control List (ECL) nor the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).

The court questioned whether the petitioner had contacted the relevant authorities regarding the matter. Nasir contended that the official responsible lacked the authority to impose such travel restrictions. In response, the court advised him to first address the issue with the Balochistan government and, if no action was taken, to then approach the judiciary.

Government and FIA Involvement

Jibran Nasir further claimed that the travel restrictions were imposed based on recommendations from the Balochistan government, which prompted the federal government to enforce the limitations. Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) requested to be removed as a party in the case, asserting that it had no involvement in the matter.

Conclusion

The Sindh High Court emphasized the importance of following the proper legal channels before judicial intervention. As a result, Sami Deen Baloch has been advised to seek resolution at the provincial level before pursuing further legal action.
