Gwadar: The 47-day-long sit-in at Marine Drive Gwadar has officially ended after successful negotiations between the All Parties Alliance and the district administration. The conclusion of the protest was marked by celebrations, as workers in the protest camp danced to the beats of drums, expressing their joy over the agreements reached.
During a crucial negotiation session held at the Deputy Commissioner Complex, the following key points were agreed upon:
✅ Illegal Trawling: 100 Levies personnel have been deployed to combat illegal fishing, with promises to involve local fishermen in policy decisions.
✅ Electricity Load Shedding: Urban power supply will increase to 17 hours daily, with further follow-ups at higher levels.
✅ Fishermen Colony Development: Land balloting will take place within three months, ensuring a transparent process for all stakeholders.
✅ Flood Victim Compensation: Payments will be processed for verified applicants, while a new mechanism will be created for those with unclear records.
✅ GDA Development Projects: Significant progress is expected by April 2025, with expedited work on various initiatives.
✅ Water Supply Issues: Efforts will be made to accelerate ongoing water projects with engagement from relevant departments.
✅ Anti-Drug Crackdown: A coordinated operation against drug mafias will begin, with political parties assisting law enforcement in identifying culprits.
Following the signing of these agreements, the All Parties Alliance officially announced the suspension of the sit-in. The resolution of these key issues marks an important step towards improving Gwadar’s infrastructure, security, and quality of life.
