
Gwadar, Pakistan – Last year, the District and Sessions Judge of Gwadar delivered a verdict in a tragic traffic accident case near Ormara. The court declared the accused, Abdul Khaliq, guilty of negligence that led to the loss of lives. He was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs32.4 million as compensation (Diyat).
The accident occurred in 2024 and claimed the lives of the Superintendent Engineer of Gwadar Public Health Department, the late Aman Askani, his wife, and the wives of his two brothers. Case 10/2024 was registered under Sections 320 and 427 of the law.
In its verdict, the court stated that if the accused dies during imprisonment, his heirs will be responsible for paying the fine and compensation amount.
During the trial, Advocate Miraj Ali represented the accused, while Advocate Farooq Baloch represented the family of the deceased Aman Askani. The prosecution was led by Government Lawyer Gulzar Ahmed.
This verdict is widely seen as a significant step in delivering justice for accident victims, and many citizens have praised the court’s decision.
